Knife making with Peter Hill

Learn from one of FABA's Master knifesmiths in this all day course!

120 US dollars
Northwest 97th Boulevard

Service Description

Peter Hill will lead this class in shaping knife handles and blades by the stock removal method. Techniques learned will include using epoxy to attach wooden scales to a knife blank pre-shaped, hardened, and tempered by Peter, the shaping of the scales into a functional and aesthetically pleasing handle, and the final grinding, sharpening and finish sanding of the handle and blade. All students may expect to leave with a finished fixed blade knife. This is a six hour class with a morning and afternoon session. Some time may be available with Peter Hill on Sunday morning if any students need extra time to finish their blade. If you are sensitive to sanding dust, please bring your own respiratory protection. Safety glasses are mandatory. Hearing protection is recommended. Long pants are recommended. Closed toe shoes are required, leather is recommended. Having a sharp knife thrown at your foot by a grinder while you are wearing flip flops is not a laughing matter. Some safety glasses and ear plugs will be available for sale if you do not bring your own.
