How to repair a broken heart
An introduction to Whitesmithing
Service Description
We will cut and hammer a heart out of brass plate, then solder bits to the heart to dress it up and finally drill some holes to lace the "broken" parts of the heart together. Your heart will be similar in size and shape to the heart pictured, but it will become uniquely yours. This 4-hour class starts with a healthy dose of forging safety and then progresses into hammer control exercises where you shape the heart. You will learn splitting, hardening, quenching, some soldering and finishing. This is a family friendly class for age 12 and up, but if under 18 a parent or guardian must be present to sign a waiver and stay around to help your protégé. Participants will use a drill press and propane gas torch in this class, if you are not comfortable with your family member using these tools please let the instructor know so accommodations can be made. This class is not a substitute for introduction to blacksmithing.
