Hammer Swing Ergonomics
Or how to reduce your chance of shoulder injury or surgery
Service Description
Swinging a hammer is pretty simple, right? Actually, hitting hot metal involves a lot of factors that don’t apply to all that practice you had pounding in nails or stakes. Several things can work to cause cumulative damage to joints, tendons and ligaments. This class combines information from experienced smiths with decades of experience, input from sports medicine and occupational health as well as physical therapists, as well as principles of basic physics on how to minimize the chances of acute or chronic injury to you. Anvil height, stance, grip and swing will all be discussed, as well as ways to assess your swing yourself will also be covered. This is a 30-minute session. All proceeds go to the veteran's fund.
