About the event
Greetings everyone from the Northwest Region. It sure is  hot, but we're getting busy anyway. Every year lately, about  this time of the year, I comment about how busy we are in  the fall of the year and this year it's truer than ever.  We just had our September meeting at the Panhandle  Pioneer Settlement in Blountstown and are starting the  classes back up again. We had stopped for the summer.  The cooler weather hasn't started yet but the classes  have. We offer about two classes a month until the weather  gets too hot again. Our October meeting will be held on the  14th at Aunt Louise's Farm. The address is 8101 Waukeenah  Hwy. Monticello, FL 32344.  Aunt Louise's Farm is a corn maze, tractor ride, petting  zoo and county fair type experience. They're open 10am  to 6pm on Saturdays and 2pm to 6pm on Sundays, every  weekend in October and half of November.  This is their fall season and we keep our blacksmithing  area and equipment set up for the duration.  Our November meeting on Nov. 11th will both be held there.  For our October meeting we're going to have "open  forges" and "open demonstrater" opportunities. Come  ready to work and we'll let you do it. Show us what you've  been working on lately or we'll put you to work on a small  project.  For the meal, we're going to grill hamburgers and sausages on a charcoal forge and we should bring sides and  desserts to go along with them. Don't forget to bring items  to donate for the raffle. We're still giving out free tickets to  anyone who donates something they've made themselves.  I hope to see you at the meeting, but keep in mind that  every weekend starting on September 30th and running  through November 12th, will be another chance to come  out and blacksmith with us.  Besides all that, and our yearly conference in October,  I've started volunteering at Stephen Foster state park every  weekend that I can fit in. This will be about half of the  weekends for the rest of the year, and FABA members are  invited to join me there. I'm trying to get a volunteer teaching and learning program going at Stephen Foster with lots  of opportunities for both and demonstrating too.  If you are interested in participating in any of these  opportunities, please come on out or check in with me to  confirm the time and place, if you're not sure.  How's that for a busy fall season? Some weekends we  have three separate things going on in three quite separate  places. You are invited to come and help us out!
