The demonstration lined up for July is going to be OP. That's right, James worm is going to give us a lesson on how to use an oxygen/propane torch safely and demonstrate many of their proper uses.  An O/P torch is another one of those tools I keep mentioning that can open many doors of possibility that would otherwise be shut. The isolated heat control offered by a torch for instance simply can't be replicated in a gas or coal forge environment. That by itself has

serious implications but thankfully it's just a drop in the bucket of all the ways a torch can improve a blacksmiths work experience. The acquisition and use of a torch in one's personal work is not as hard to reach as some might think. Due to the nature of this demo needing lenses to look through for maximal viewing pleasure, it is my intention to purchase several cheapo pairs of glasses for people to use. However, I will not be able to acquire enough for everyone to have a pair at once. If some of you are already equiped with this type of viewing equipment then I would appreciate it if you brought it in to reduce the amount we have to share so that more people can appreciate the full experience.

In my 8 years of attending the C.NE regional meet ings, I have never seen a demo like this one before. So make sure to get out and catch it as this one doesn't come by our region often.
