Make an ulu with Matt Shoemaker
Also known as an herb chopper, a practical knife for the kitchen
Service Description
In this class, we will be making an herb chopper, or Ulu, to learn some basics of forging an artistic blade. This class will expand on elements from the beginner classes like tapering/upsetting and how to control their shapes, along with developing scrollwork to please the eye using the golden ratio. We will be focusing on the artistry of ironwork rather than blade smithing, but the skills are certainly transferrable and will lay a groundwork for future growth as an artist blacksmith.
