2D and 3D skulls with Ben Thompson

Service Description

Over the course of this four-hour session participants will learn how to make a 2D skull from flat bar and a 3D skull from square stock. Using a variety of hand-held chisels and shaping tools you will learn to sculpt these distinctive forms we all know so well. Class participants will work from examples, but each workpiece will have its own character (which makes them so fun!). What you decide to do with your forged skull is up to you! While any level of smith is welcomed, those who are intermediate may get the most out of the class. A good understanding of fire maintenance and comfort with the basics of forging is recommended. We will be forging heavier stock in the 3d skull part of the class, so be prepared to work up a sweat.
