The following plans are based on items that I have built. I make no claims concerning their safety -- If I don't built it, I can't take any responsibility for problems. What's reported here has worked reliably and safely for me but use the information at your own risk, i.e., don't sue me if you screw up.

My latest unit (12" diameter x 18" long, 4" x 8" flue at the top, 2 burners, with a small blower) running at 15 psi LP pushed past 3000F - hot enough to forge weld wrought iron and hot enough to start slagging 3000F castable refractory - going to have to put a rheostat on the blower and drop the pressure next time.

I've appended some images of my damascus forge - basically the same as the diagram but with a vertical top flue. When running at 20 psi, it will melt 3000F refractory (so I don't do that if I can help it!). Click on each image to see a larger version.
