July 2011 meetings August 2011 meetings FABA NE Meeting Information: August 6: NE MEETING: Pioneer Art Settlement at Barberville. Thurman Chaffin & Allen Hardwicke will be casting brass and aluminum. Wear cotton clothes and safety glasses if you want to cast your own belt buckle or other item. This is a hands-on-project. Open forges will be available. Lunch will be pasta, so a bring a salad or desert to share. Do not forget an Iron-in-the-Hat item. September 3:NE MEETING: Pioneer Art Settlement at Barberville. Ben Rogers will demonstrate how to make a raised vein oak leaf. In addition, he will discuss tuning your anvil to improve the rebound and working with sound while forging. Also, proper punching and upsetting. Open forges. Please bring a covered dish and an Iron-in-the-Hat item. October 7 - 9: FABA Annual Conference @ Pioneer Art Settlement November 5: NE MEETING: Pioneer Art Settlement at Barberville. Butch Patterson will be demonstrating how to stretch the iron to make a Cowyboy Hat. Open forges will be available. Please bring an Iron-in-the-Hat item and a covered dish. MEALS: If you are interested in cooking and bring the main dish for lunch, bring your receipts and I will see that you are reimbursed at the meeting.
