NamBam* Series
The design is a fusion of the Western hunting/fighting knife with a
quasi-Japanese approach for the fittings in which the handle, guard, and
habachi can be removed from the blade, thus allowing complete access for
blade maintenance, sharpening, repolishing of fittings, etc.
Both blades are hand-forged random pattern Damascus blades (~500 layers of
O1, L6, 203E,and wrought iron with an initial carbon content 0.70% C, heat cycled,
triple tempered, and with flame softened spine and tang). The upper knife has a
African blackwood and the lower knife has a kiatt handle. Both have nickel-silver
guards, copper habachi and use Allen capscrews and tapped tangs to secure the handles.
The latter is also shown disassembled.
Others in the series have either brass or hot-blued Damascus guards (an example
is shown to the right).
