FABA’S 2007 Annual Conference Brochure

FABA’S 2007 Annual Conference will be held at the Pioneer Settlement in Barberville, Florida on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday October 12, 13, & 14, 2007.

The Demonstrators and Blacksmithing Classes and Teachers, have now been finalized. Additionally we will have five craft classes – broom making, chain-maille & glass bead jewelry, copper flowers, railroad spike art, and macramé weaving.

We will have a gallery exhibit for your special pieces. So, be sure to make an exhibit piece – a cash prize will be given to the exhibitor who wins the “People’s Choice” vote.

Each of the four regions has been asked to make one or more regional projects to donate to the auction. Ask your regional program coordinator how you can help with your region’s project. The auction will be Saturday evening – Tim Ryan will again be our auctioneer. He alone is “one heck of a show”! Don’t miss the auction! Be sure to bring something to donate to the auction. This is the main way FABA meets operational expenses. Tim will also do the traditional anvil shoot.

The one big attraction at this annual conference is the “tail gate sales” area – so bring your blacksmith related tools and supplies to sell or trade There is no charge for this, but you do have to be registered for the conference in order to sell your stuff.

The iron-in-the-hat raffle will be held on Saturday at noon. This is always a fun event – tickets are 6 for $5.00. Please bring something to donate to this table. Don’t forget the children - this time donate something that will appeal to the kids.

All meals will be catered on site. You will have an opportunity to buy your ticket for the buffet Saturday night dinner in your pre-registration package. This is the only buffet meal – all other meals are menu ordered and pay when served. Saturday night buffet dinner tickets are only $5.00 each!

Non-denominational chapel service will be at the Church starting at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. Blue Grass Gospel music will be featured. You are welcome to attend – bring the whole family.

A conference brochure and pre-registration form will be sent out to you about 1 month before conference time. It would help tremendously if you could pre-register for the conference – rather than waiting for “rush hour” to register on site. Motel information will be in this brochure.

Now for a very important NOTE – we have a very narrow “window” of time for setting up the conference. The only time we have is on Thursday from 2 p.m. until dusk. We can’t wait until Friday morning to start setting up as the conference starts Friday at 9:00 a.m.! So, if you possibly can, please be there by 2:00 p.m. on Thursday to help us set up.
